PrivadoVPN Copyright Policy

PrivadoVPN provides transitory digital network communications. Privado Networks ehf addresses copyright complaints in accordance with applicable Icelandic law and applicable European Economic Area intermediary-liability frameworks.

Because of the technical nature of the PrivadoVPN services, including encrypted communications and transmissions initiated at the direction of users, PrivadoVPN generally cannot remove third-party material from the internet or block access to specific online content that is alleged to be infringing.

An IP address observed on a PrivadoVPN server does not allow Privado to identify a specific user for alleged copyright infringement. Privado does not maintain records linking particular users or accounts to specific online content or apparent IP-address activity.

Submitting a Notice: If you are a copyright owner, or have the authority to act on behalf of a copyright owner, you may report a claim that a party is infringing your copyrighted material via our services by notifying PrivadoVPN’s designated copyright agent at:

Notifications of claimed infringement must contain the following information in order to be processed:

Clear identification of the submitter and the submitter’s relationship to the copyright owner (for example, the owner, a duly authorized agent, or legal counsel).
Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed and information reasonably sufficient to identify the allegedly infringing online location or material at issue.
A description of how you believe the PrivadoVPN services are alleged to be involved.
A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
A statement that the information in the notification is accurate and that the complaining party is the copyright owner or is authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
Your contact information, preferably including an email address and telephone number.
A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

Jurisdictional Notice: Privado Networks ehf addresses copyright complaints in accordance with Icelandic law and through the legal channels available under Icelandic law. References in this policy to internationally recognized notice formats are provided as a convenience only and do not mean that Privado operates a hosting or takedown regime.

Your written Notification of Claimed Infringement must be sent to our Designated Copyright Agent at the email address or physical address listed above. We will review notices that comply with the requirements identified above, document them for our records, and respond to the submitter confirming our review.

Because PrivadoVPN operates as a technical conduit and does not host content, generate VPN activity logs, or maintain records linking users to specific online activity, any response to a valid notice is necessarily limited to actions, if any, available under applicable law and Privado’s Terms of Service. Privado is not technologically capable of removing third-party material from the internet, blocking a specific user’s access to specific online content, or identifying a specific user associated with an IP address at a past point in time.

Account Action in Exceptional Cases

Because PrivadoVPN does not maintain records linking specific users to specific online activity, it is not technologically capable of identifying a “repeat infringer” through VPN activity records. Where a court or other competent authority lawfully identifies a specific PrivadoVPN account as having been used in connection with copyright infringement or other unlawful conduct, Privado reserves the right to suspend or terminate that account in accordance with its Terms of Service.
